The Committee

How we formed the committee

We have a great committee. Everyone is enthusiatic and comes up with wonderful ideas, such as the name, the way to do publicity, the suitability of the venue etc. Meetings are friendly and good fun. We all knew each other vaguely, some more than others.  Holmes Chapel is quite small and one tends to bump into people going around the village. Some of us had been in full time work and recently retired. Some of us had not seen each other for years and that was probably at the school gates. But it was great to get together with a clear purpose.

We had a core of four or five people who knew about NADFAS and then we 'had a quiet word'  to others and twisted a few arms. Some people were able to attend as guests at other societies. When they started to see the quality of lectures and the NADFAS set up they became even more enthusiastic!

We were lucky enough to have one person who volunteered to be treasurer. Apparently, this is a difficult role to fill. Others soon volunteered for specific roles.

Roles are well defined by NADFAS and they are available in the handbook - see link
